Lula Watts-Burnell Obituary

Lula Mae Watts-Burnell was born March 21, 1938 to the late Levi and Louise Watts in Grenada, MS. Lula relocated to Northwest Indiana as a teenager where she went on to work for US Steel for 27 years. She met James Burnell whom she loved and ultimately married. Lula was a dedicated member of True Stewart Baptist Church. Lula is preceded in death by her parents Levi and Louise Watts; Husband James Burnell; sister Willie V. Hardwick; and grandson Derrick Winters Sr., She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Mildred (Rufus) Winters; sons Jamie (Gwen) Watts and Sherman McGee; sisters Minnie Gilliam, Laura Hardwick, Lillie Hardwick and Nina Bruce; grandsons Stacy Winters and Christopher (Dionna) Winters and a host of other family and friends. Visitation Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 9:00-11:00am with funeral services immediately following all at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
