Sister M. Maricita Petrites

SISTER M. MARICITA PETRITES P.H.J.C. Donaldson, IN Age 94 passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Catherine Kasper Home. Sister Maricita was born on April 30, 1912 in Wilburton, OK, the daughter of Stanley and Anna Petrites and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Helen Primer, formerly of Lowell, IN; sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Petrites of Highland; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Stanley, Joseph, Charles, Anthony and Frank Petrites; one sister, Sr. M. Marice Petrites, P.H.J.C., and parents. Sr. Maricita entered the congregation of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1928 and took her vows in 1931. She celebrated her 75th anniversary in the Order May 20, 2006. She was a teacher at schools in Illinois, Minnesota and several schools in the Gary Diocese. She once was the principal of a one-room schoolhouse, also serving as teacher for all 8 grades. For 15 years, she was a caregiver at the St. Vincent House in Elkhart, IN and retired in 1995 to the Catherine Kasper Home. She had a true devotion to our Blessed Mother and praying the Rosary and always encouraged the attendance at daily Mass and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The family will receive friends after 4:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. CST), Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, IN until 9:00 p.m. Prayer service 7:00 p.m. (times are for Donaldson). Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 13, 2006, 11a.m. (their time) at the home of the Rev. Edward Konehman S.J. officiating. At rest, Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson, IN.
