Martin Booker Obituary

MARTIN L BOOKER, SR Gary, Indiana Departed this life on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Gary, IN. Martin was born in Talladega, AL and moved to Gary in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of the Federal Cement and Tile Company. Martin was known for his beautiful vegetable gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Hubbert and Lovie Booker, sister, Jenniel Thomas, and brothers, Powell Booker and John Edward Booker Sr. His memories will be cherished by his wife of 58 years: Janice Burley Booker; 8 children: Michael (Sharon) Booker of East Chicago, IN, Bruce Booker of Chicago, IL, Brenda (Chuck) Booker of Dolton, IL, Janice Booker of Gary, IN, Betty (Sam) Hopkins of Topeka, KS, Martin L. Booker, Jr. (Luretha) of Gary, IN, Sherry Booker of Houston, TX, John Booker (Windy) of Gary, IN; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Joe Booker of Chicago, IL; 4 sisters: Estell Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA, Lovell Goodnight of Pittsburg, PA, Lucille Harris, of Birmingham, AL, Georgia Smoot of Talladega, AL and Clara Thompson of Talladega, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Monday, August 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Family hour 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Smith Bizzell Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant St., Gary, IN Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Bizzell Warner Funeral Home with Rev.
