Mary Tkach Obituary

Tkach, Mary Age 85, a life-long Lake County resident, departed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior, on Friday, January 20, 2012. She was born in Gary, Indiana to Alex and Mary (Sisak) Kravec. She was a lifetime, devout and dedicated member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church of Merrillvile, IN., and its Rosary Sodality. Over several decades, she lovingly worked for her church, helping on Friday's with the weekly fish fry and pirohi dinners. Many will remember that she adopted a role at the parish of being "everyone's grandmother and friend." Most often, Mary cared for others-before herself. Mary really enjoyed gardening, and maintaining her house and home. But most of all, she loved her entire family. Mary was a life time member of the Greek Catholic Union. After 50 years, Mary was preceded by her beloved husband, Michael Tkach, on January 7, 1995. Also preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Stefan, and sister-in law Marta. She is survived by her daughters: Anne Tkach of Slovakia, Mary (Ed) Luczak of Merrillville, Joanne Rainwater of Bradenton, Florida, and Cathy (Mark) Pampalone of Stevensville, Michigan. Also survived by four grandchildren: Mike (Amanda) Luczak of Nashville, Tennessee, Lisa (Robert) Gray of Merrillville, Nicholas Pampalone of Baroda, Michigan, Carolyn Pampalone of Stevensville, Michigan; great grandson, Charles Weaver of Merrillville, nephews, Stefan and Mike, and nieces Marca and Irena in Slovakia. Funeral services will be Monday, January 23, 2012 at 9 AM from Burns Funeral Home (Crown Point), to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 557 W. 57th Avenur, Merrillville, IN for 10 AM Mass with Father Basil Hutsko, officiating. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery. The visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana, under Savich & Semplinski Directors. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 PM, Sunday. The parish prayer service will follow at 3 PM. at 3 PM. Eternal be her memory !!!

Mary & Mike were a part of our lives for many years. As she wisked us off to the little corner room it was a joy to listen to Mary talk about her children & grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed her house plants, flowers, vegetable gardening, cooking & making perogi's at her church. She kept her life simple,& especially enjoyed taking care of the home she & Mike built & it was always spotless. They are together now and her worries are over. God bless her & her dear family. So sorry for the loss of Mary. Sweet lady whom I've seen at times when I would go to my mom's house. When she would see me she would always ask how I was doing. Our prayers are with your family. Lillian (Repar) Elliott & Maria and Paul Repar

Ms. Mary was very dear to our hearts. We Ruben and Sandra Ruiz of "R" Lawn Care Service it was a joy to service her lawn. She would like to come out side and speak with me and give me pop and cookies. She would call the office some times when she felt like talking and give Thanks for Ruben servicing her lawn. She will always have a special place in our hearts.
