Matthew Austensen Obituary

MATTHEW ALLEN AUSTENSEN "Big Asian" Valparaiso, Indiana Formerly Normal, Illinois Matthew Allen Austensen, age 30, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Porter Hospital. He was born December 3, 1977 in Pontiac, IL, graduated from Brehm Preparatory Academy in Carbondale, IL, had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso and worked in the building trades in Northwest Indiana. He embraced his Vietnamese heritage as did his blended family who loved him. He will be fondly remembered for this passion for music and love of working on cars, particularly Mustangs. On February 18, 2006, in Valparaiso, he married Rebecca Bricker who survives along with their 2 year old son, Malachi Austensen; parents, Roy & Anne Marie (Frank) Austensen of Valparaiso; brother, Lauritz (Amanda) Austensen; and sister, Mimi Austensen, all of New York City; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 12:00 noon at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with the Rev. Dr. Freda S. Scales officiating. Burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. Memorials may be made to the Brehm Preparatory Academy, 1245 E. Grand Ave., Carbondale IL 62901.
