We were blessed to have Mrs Mattie Taylor as a neighbor. She was a sweet and wonderful mother and wife. The Taylors was one of our favorite families on 12th Ave. You will be truly missed. I am quite sure you are happy to see your husband. He was also a wonderful man as well. We love you dearly. God bless all your wonderful children.

To Marshai, Tim, Chanelle, my #1 fan Jasmine and the entire Taylor family: We would like to take this time to lend our deepest sympathy on the passing of your dear loved one. She was a blessing to all who knew her. And even though I didn't know her as well as other or as long as Jayson had, I know her daughter, granddaughter, and had the pleasure of meeting many of her children; therefore it is eveident she was a loving, kindhearted, God-fearing woman of God for it shows in the lives of her family. Jayson and I mourn with you in her passing, but rejoice with you in the fact that she no longer has to endure the heart, pain and disappointment this world can bring. You loved her dearly, but God loved her best. Now she is reunited with her father and resting in the arms of the Master. Hold on to the teachings, morals, values and virtues she has instilled in all of you. And know you will see her again. "They can't crown him until we get there!!!"

I would like to express my deepest condolence to the family, friends, and the Upper Room congregation in the loss of a "mighty good soldier", mentor, teacher, friend, counselor, prayer warrior, and always on the battle field for the Lord. I will cherish the memories that I shared with her as my teacher from Open Door Church of God in Christ. She was truly a woman of God. Pastor Mattie Taylor not only let me know that she was interested in my education but my being as a person. She challenged me to do my BEST and at all times. I will never forget the day when she informed me that I was the "valedictorian" of the class. Many lessons from her as my teacher and mentor, made me believe that "all things are possible with Christ and to those that believe". Celebrate her life!

I had the honor and privilege of working with Mrs. Taylor for one year at Edison School. She helped to make that year a memorable one for me. I will always remember her kindness, enthusiasm and love for the children and school staff. Her motherly presence was evident in her daily work and in her desire to feed us emotionally and physically. Whenever I saw her over the past years, her greeting was always one of warmth and caring.
May you find consolation in the knowledge that she will be remembered as a very special person. I am so grateful to have known her. May God bless you and grant you peace.

She was a very nice lady and I know that she will be truly missed by those who knew her. I can still see the smile upon her face when walking into her office. I normally saw her on a daily basis( I use to tell her I was her personal banker)along with her children. This family is the TRUE meaning of "FAMILY". Mattie will truely be missed by all. For more than twenty years Mattie J. Taylor was my co-worke at Edison Middle School in Gary, IN. She was the epitome of LOVE. Everyone on the staff was greeted with a term of endearment, a smile and a hug.
As a Counselor, she encouraged and motivated her students to achieve to their full potential.
She also used her special gift of
preaching, teaching and mentoring
to compell adults and children to
accept Jesus Christ.
There is no doubt that she will be sorely missed. However,she leaves
those of us who were blessed to know and love her,both a challenge and a legacy of her love for God and
humanity, wisdom, patience, generos-
ity and sense of humor.

A couple of weeks ago, my godbrother passed. I found out right before leaving for church that Sunday morning. I was crying and Jasmine, who I think is 10 years old, wrote me a note saying that my godbrother was in heaven. I never thought any words from a 10 year old would make me feel better, but that note did.
I would like to send my condolences to anyone and everyone who was touched be her presence. Everyone knows that she is at peace now and that she is in heaven with God. Take the words from her granddaughter and just remember that she is still here in your hearts.

To the Family of Pastor Mattie J.Taylor: Truly know that she will be missed not only by her family, church family and true friends but also everyone that knew her. I considered her as a true and special friend, who always was there for everyone and always exemplified Love, Love and more Love. I have yet to see a family and church family that showed such love at all times to all people. I thank God for her children who were there 24/7 at every beckon moment of her life. All she was about was loving and serving God and His people. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to see her and pray with her a couple of days before; not knowing that would be the last time I would see her. The Upper Room vision shall surely come to past and the Children shall carry out her legacy. God Bless You, Stay Strong and Be Encouraged to know that she was a true Woman of God.

I would like to send my sincere condoleces during this time. It is hard to put into words just how much my family and I will miss her. I find comfort in knowing that she was TRULY a woman of God and I am thankful for knowing such a virtuous woman. Gone but never forgotten we will see you again in the "Upper Room"......and the vision SHALL come to pass.
Thank you Mother for being there for me when I needed spiritual guidance, whether it be in the living room of your home, church or via telephone 400 miles away. I am forever grateful.
