Maurice Blakemore

Maurice Blakemore was born to Briggs and Davella Blakemore on May 30, 1937 in Gary, Indiana. At the time he deceased, Bill was 84 years old and survived by wife Shirley Ann, 3 children Debra, Vincent, and Stacey (Maura) Blakemore; and one surviving sister Mary Scott of Michigan. He had four brothers and two sisters, all of whom preceded in death by siblings, Briggs, Newell, Jackie, Josh, Subella Rumph and his twin sister Margaret Fuller. Bill had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Bill joined Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.H. Thomas. He attended East Pulaski Middle School and Emerson High School. He joined the U.S. Armey and was honorably discharged. He was employed by U.S. Steel and retired after forty-four years of service. Bill was a dapper dresser. He was a member of the Claymates Organization. He loved and enjoyed traveling with his wife all around the world. He and his friends enjoyed going to the Zanzibar and the Blue Room and just hanging out. Visitation Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9 to 11am with funeral services to follow at 11:00am all at the New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1917 Carolina St. Officiating Pastor W.N. Reed. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
