MICHAEL S. VASS
Michael, age 52, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Crown Point. He was born on July 8, 1957 in Gary, IN. A resident of Crown Point, formerly of Valparaiso, IN, had the law firm, Michael S. Vass, Attorney at Law, 45th St., Highland, IN, and was a member of The Forces of Montcalm and Wolfe. Michael was a 1975 graduate of Valparaiso High School, Indiana State University graduate, Indiana University Law School graduate, was on the committee for the upcoming 35th Reunion for the VHS Class of 1975, a former member of the Highland Rotary Club, and very active in the Indian Guides. Survived by children, Kaitlin Vass of Crown Point, IN, and Michael D. Vass of Crown Point, IN; parents, Michael Jr. and Delphine "Fifi" Vass of Valparaiso, IN; mother of children, Laura (Kuiper) Vass of Crown Point, IN; sisters, Delphine Vass of Valparaiso, IN, and Pam (Ken) Kassner of Valparaiso, IN; niece, Eliza Joest; nephews, Matthew, Zackery, and Reece Kassner. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, IN. Konnie Kuiper officiating. Burial, St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Friends may call on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Dykes Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements by Dykes Funeral Home, Inc. (219) 462-3125.

So sad to hear of Mike's passing. We grew up together at Pioneer Apartments and always enjoyed playing together as kids, my brother Bob as well as Pam and Delphine and of course Dave and his siblings. So sad for such a bright young person to be gone so early.

To Atty. Vass family words cannot express how I feel today. I just learned of your loss. Atty Vass really helped me with my family estate and since i was from out of state he was truly a blessing to me. He handled everything. I remember calling him (at the suggestion of someone in ethe Lk Co Courthouse) knowing i was leaving to go back east the next day he took my case that afternoon and proceed to the end. For that I am truly grateful. I pray for his family & friends.

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your loved one. Michael was my late uncle's lawyer and handled all of his personal affairs and helped us tremendously when he passed on! He was kind, he was professional and he was a great asset to us in a time of need. We are shocked to hear of his passing and pray for his family as they grieve his passing!

Mike was a great friend all though junior high and high school. While our paths eventually separated, I often thought of him and the fun we used to have. He will be greatly missed. Mike and his family will be in our sincerest thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Mike at the Lake County Prosecutor's office in the early 1980's. He was a great guy - I can still picture him pulling into the parking lot in that black Trans Am with his headphones on! We had a lot of fun back in those days . . .
