Born July 26, 1958 to the late Grenfall and Katherine Epps in Gary, IN, was called home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the age of 63. He was a 1976 graduate of Horace Mann High School of Gary, IN. He was employed with Lurie Brothers Steel in East Chicago, IN; B & W Security as a security guard for the Gary Public Welfare Dept; and Broadway Auto Parts in Gary. He later became a Volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, IN. Prior to his passing, Mike was employed as a Security Guard at FedEx in Indianapolis, IN. He was an expert carpenter and jack-of-all-trades, and also provided D.J. services for many years under the name of Black Tie Entertainment, LLC. He was President and CEO of Teens Off The Block, a non-profit community youth organization. He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Epps and Archie Epps, and sister Janae Walker. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: sons, O'Farrell Epps, Jr., Jamaal Sr.(La'Toya) Crosby and Da'Shaun Crosby; daughters, Carson Epps, De'Ja Epps, Raven Epps, Diamond Eddie and Emerald Eddie; grand-children, O'Farrell Epps, III, Jordan Epps, Eric Phillips, Ariel Eddie, Jamala, Azariah, MaKayla, Jamaal Jr., Jayla, Zoe, MaKenzie, Jayden, Da'Shaun, Jr. and Jazmine Crosby; special nephew, Ron (Kim) Stewart; special aunt, Mary Hunter; special great-niece, Deja Stewart; special cousins, Curtis Nevis, Jr., Theia Hunter and Bernard Smith; close friends, Geneva Epps and Danette Harris. All services Saturday, November 6, 2021 at New Shiloh M.B. Church, 1727 W. 15th Ave., Gary, IN. Visitation 10am – 12pm followed by Celebration of Life at 12pm. Rev. Bernard Smith, Pilgram MBC, Officiating. Professional Services rendered by Manuel Memorial Funeral Home.

Hey cousin, it's been almost two years, still trying to wrap my head around it. I miss our discussions, good topics you and Ted were always good for good things to discuss. Like Ted use to say, "What's really going on...". You got more grandchildren (aka Pa-Pa) knowing you, you would be spoiling them now. You always did things big, my cousin. A few friends and relatives have passed since you've been gone. Our friend Bill, Yvonne (Tookie), Brenda, you're probably talking to them up there. Outside of that everybody's been hanging in there. Definitely life hasn't been the same cousin without you. That's quite the understatement. Until we see you again cousin grant us that peace through the storm. You always were an anchor for us.

"Love you cousin", that was our phrase, this was unexpected but every step is ordered even if we don't understand. You were the go-getter of the family, the entertainment and event maker of the family. I only hope, like we discussed before, the generations after us to carry the torch for reunions and such.
