Milbra Henderson

Milbra Henderson, 86 received her heavenly wings on Monday, October 10, 2021 at the Golden Living Center in Merrillville, IN. She was born in Sunflower, Mississippi. The family eventually settled in Gary, Indiana. She attended Roosevelt High School where she graduated with honors. Milbra was a secretary for the school union from where after many years of service, she retired. As a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church, she enjoyed the pleasure of singing in the choir. She also sang for the Gospel Group: The Sounds of Peace. Loved ones left to cherish her memory, mother, Nona Lee Shootes, 103; a handsome son, Kevin E. Gardner; one brother, Curtis Lee Moore; her best friend to the end, Pat DeNeal; two nephews, Tony Moore & Derrick Moore; cousins, Leroy Jones, Jr. & Richard Jones; daughter-in-law, Latahua Gardner; five grandchildren and a host of loving friends and relatives. Visitation: Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. –11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. All services at Trinity Baptist Church, 1831 Virginia Street, Gary, IN Pastor Dwight Gardner officiating.
