Mildred Kerhin Obituary

Kerhin, Mildred (nee Karagin) of Hobart passed away on June 19, 2012 at the age of 90. Mrs. Kerhin is survived by children Penelope Kerhin, Michael (Christin) and Thomas (Sabrina), grandchildren Jennifer (Pete), Christopher, Leslie (Sean), Zachary (Lena), Jamie, Alexandra, and Raine and great grandchildren Kristofer, Marcella, Roman, Melena, Ashton, Kaiden, Emmett and Fiona, nephews Bradley (Kathy) and Milos III (Linda). Preceded in death by husband Thomas, a D-Day Veteran, brother Milos II (Beverly) and son Randall (Karen) and nephew Steven. Mrs. Kerhin during WWII worked at Army Air Corps Headquarters, Wright-Patterson Field in Dayton and Army Air Corps Supply Depot at Chicago's Midway Airport. She delivered Meals on Wheels with husband Tom and volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital in Gary and St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart with over 5000 hours of service. She was past 1st District President of the American Legion Auxiliary, past President of Glen Park Post 214 and member of Hobart Unit 54 and member of 8/40. Mildred was a member of Hobart Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Moderator of the Woman's Association. She was co owner with husband Tom of Hickey Water Company in Hobart. Memorial service will be held Monday July 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hobart Presbyterian Church, 60 N. Washington St. Hobart. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hines Veteran's Hospital, Hines, Ill or Hobart Presbyterian Church.
