NICHOLAS GORDON JR. Portage, IN Formerly Glen Park/Schererville Nicholas Gordon, Jr. age 85, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the VNA Hospice, Valparaiso, IN. He was born on October 26, 1922 in Indiana Harbor, IN. Nicholas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret, daughters, Nicolette Lindinger of Schererville and Laura (Kevin) Steele of Valpar-aiso; sons, Phillip (Tara) Gord-on of Hobart and John (Jacquee) Gordon of Valpara-iso; brother, Mike (Eleanor) Gordon of Georgia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pittman of California; grandchildren, Michael (Jenny) Lindinger, Ryan Lindinger, Katie and Abby Steele, Jessica Gordon, David Gordon, Eric (Samantha) Ledyard and Sarah (Brandon) Lankford; three great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Julia Gordon; sister, Julia (Steve) Bobalik; sons, Jefffrey and Billy and his grandson, Benjamin Steele. Nick was a veteran of World War II, a Corporal in the 312th Bomb Group of the Army Air Corporation. He was a 1941 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School; a retired Pattern Maker-Carpenter Foreman of Inland Steel (41 years); a longtime member of the former Grace Reformed Church (Gary) and former manager and coach of East Glen Park Little League and the Schererville Town League. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. from Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, located at 7535 Taft St, Merrillville, IN with Rev. Karl Ludwig officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette Street, Valpa-raiso, IN 46383 may be made in Nicholas's memory.
