I was so sorry to read about Nina in the paper. I haven't seen her in a very long time. I remember her when we worked at Cigna Insurance in Merrillville. She was so young and full of life. My thoughts are with her son. Just know that your mother touched a lot of people in her short life.

To The Moss and Curtis Families:
Heartfelt condolences and truly a sense of loss is being felt by myself and my family. I've known Nina and the Moss family since Beckman Junior High School days in the 70's and although it's been years since I've seen family members, I still remember their closeness, kindness and Nina's infectious smile. As I reflect on the past and fast forward to the present, Nina and her family is a family that I'll never forget no matter where my life journey takes me away from Gary, IN. To Roy Jones Sr. and Jr., I haven't seen either of you in years and remember Roy Jr. in diapers, but Big Roy, you know I still love you as my brother and grieve with you and the families during this most humbling of times. GOD BLESS ALL THE FAMILIES AND KNOW THAT NINA IS AT PEACE.

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

To our whole family that has exerienced this major greif of pain and disposition. This has brought light to a path that was never traveled by us. We have gained an understanding of God's powers and plans for us individually. As the word will say, He will NEVER put anything on our shoulders to heavy to carry. Greif for To-To(Roy), Pookie (Anthony), and Unk Rick is the most binding spirit that has surpassed our family. Knowing what I feel as a neice is nothing comparable to losing a wife and mother...But it hurts as if it could be close. Not understanding where this is where my heart is but praying is my strength. I feel that I am celebrating her life and not her death....although my tears will tell otherwise.
To so many other families that have endured what our family is gathering our hearts to cope with, they too have been here before. I belive in God.
I love my Aunte Ni-Ni, and she loved her niece "A", as she would call me like no other in the family. She adopted this name for me and I answered to this as if it was birth given. I will miss her tease of how my "bootie" is getting big as hers, as we know she did have a very shapely body that my Unk was soooo proud of, lol.
I will miss her laugh, smile, voice, her visits to my house, her food, her joy she brought, her love for the kids....and my list could go longer that this note.
Make a long story short, may God bless our families. The Curtis, Moss, Jones, Williams, and so on. We were binded through a true angel of God.

To the family of Nina Moss-Curtis:
As a member of the Class of 1980 at Roosevelt, I had the pleasure of meeting Nina Moss. I also had the honor and privilege of coaching Anthony this past summer and like all of my players I grew to call him one of "my kids", and Nina was ALWAYS there with that great smile and laugh. One of the last times I saw her, she was grilling hotdogs for the boys to eat after the game...that was so Nina!
Now we must become the village that Gary used to be and hold Anthony and the family close. To that end a scholarship fund has been set up at Fifth Third Bank, just ask to donate to the Anthony Curtis Scholarship Fund.
Nina, your ultimate sacrifice will NOT be in vain.
To God be the Glory.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To the family of Nina,
may u find peace and laughter in your rememberance of sista Nina. The only sadness is what we will miss of the love and joy that she bestowed upon all that knew her. Thus, for selfish reasons we will cry. Remembering the joy, the warmth of her smile, the playfulness that she almost always saw fit to offer, will also make us cry, but these tears will be tears of happiness. Understanding and appreciating the gift in her that God lenr to us for 45 years, for this we give thanks and appreciation. Children of Nina, know that she was named for a very positive, strong and infleuntial revolutionary woman "miss nina simone". You must pay homage to your dear mother always and she will live forever through you! Remember her fragrance, her laugh, her energy and pass this on to your children and their children. Let her essence never be forgotten.
peace and blessings to u all

To Roy, Rick Classmate Cynthia and bereaved families!!!
Knowing Nina since 7th Grade at Beckman, She was clearly a real sweet and shaply young lady who was thoughtful, considerate and consistently kind to me and her classmate, Vincent
It's with sadness in learning about her leaving which really hurts but, at the same time, Nina was told on numerous occasions when I see her at various functions ie--Basketball games with her son and last at Norman and Niesha's "Blue Room" lounge, How proud I was in the raising of her sons, Espicially seeing "little Roy" off into adulthood!!
The memories Me and my brother had about "Moose" were plentiful and Im always greatful in her consistent manner of how I was treated!!
She was a real sweetheart and will be sorely missed on this earth!!!!!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
