Ola Mae Matthews

Ola Mae Matthews, 98 years old, made her earthly transition on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. She attended school in Indianola, MS. Then she later moved to Gary, IN where she was employed with the Joe Krause Poultry Plant until they closed their doors. Ola worked at and retired from Lake County Convalescent Home after 22 years of service. She was a member of the New Bethesda Baptist Church. Ola loved to work in her puzzle books in which she did until she was 95 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Davis, granddaughter, LaSandra Matthews, grandson, Michael Matthews Sr, great grandson Michael Matthews Jr, and daughter-in-law, Peggie Arnold. She leaves to cherish her memory 2 sons Horace Matthews and Esker Lee Arnold Sr.; devoted daughter/caregiver, Zola (Phillip) McGee, a devoted granddaughter/caregiver LaToyria (Jason) Cherry all of Indianapolis, IN, 5 other granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 28 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation, Friday, April 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 W. 11th Ave., Gary, IN. Minister Kayetta Brown officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 face mask and social distancing required. please social distance and wear masks.
