RAYMOND MESSER Age 66 of Portage, Indiana passed away Sunday January 9, 2005. Survived by his loving wife, Cookie; 3 daughters, Lorri Sanders, Diane (Mike) Bilderback and Linda (Ray) Eriks; 10 grandchildren, Misty (Mark) Peters, Alex Phillips, U.S. Marine Corp., Krystal Eriks, Michael Bilderback, Val (Dave) Drenth, Jeff (Dorica) Eriks, Eb Eriks; 4 great grandchldren, Hannah and Emily Peters, Kristin and Brandon Drenth; 1 sister, Clara Callebs of Westland, MI; 1 brother, Leamon ((Patsy) Messer of Westland, MI; 3 brothers-in-law, Bernie (Pat) Najar, Mitch (Kathy) Najar, Joe (Kathy) Najar; 1 sister-in-law, Bernadine (Paul) Record; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Best pal and companion his dog, Max. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Effie and Willie Messer; sister, Dorothy Williamson; brother - in - law, James O. Callebs; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Bernardo Najar; sister-in-law, Catherine Najar. Ray was a retired electrician from Sargent Electric & was a member of Electricians Local #697. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ray spent his retired time on his farm, hunting and fishing. He loved to shoot pool and being with his grandchildren. He is #1 Papa, Dad and loving husband. Funeral services, Wednesday, January 12, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Mr. John Berlin, Minister officiating. Cremation at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
