Richard P. Gurband

RICHARD P. GURBAND LaPorte, Indiana Formerly Hobart, Indiana Age 68, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Richard was a longtime LaPorte resident, formerly of Hobart. He was a member of Moose Lodge #492, LaPorte, Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees Local #06787. Richard was retired from Bethlehem Steel and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. He is survived by his wife, Lynda (nee Sederberg) of LaPorte; 3 children: Cindi (Kirk) O'Connor of Portage, Beth Gurband of Mill Creek, IN and Paul (Stefanie) Gurband; 4 step-children, Mike (Janice) Timmons of Valparaiso, Robert (Susan) Timmons and Brian Timmons, both of Merrillville and Dawn (George) Brugos, of Hebron; 4 grandchildren: Shannon (Ryan) Dargewich, Nathan and Jessica Kneifel and Paula Gurband; 12 step-grandchildren: Eric, Cori, Trevor, Rachel, Samantha, Brian and Johnny Timmons, Valerie, George III, Aerielle, Brittney, Kyle Brugos; 4 great grandchildren: Meghan, Owen, Alana and Kyle; sisters, Betty Cook and Linda (Ray) Trisler; brothers, Ken (Jan) Gurband and Jack (Wanda) Painter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Fenton (Alvina) Gurband, and mother, Thelma (Tracy) Painter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007, 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Schmidt officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage.
