Sarah Rooks

1937 - 2016

Sarah Louise Rooks was born to the late August and Theolar Fuller on December 4, 1937. She departed this earthly life on October 17, 2016. Sarah accepted Christ at an early age. Later in life she was united in holy matrimony to Sylvester Lee Rooks. To this union nine children were born. Sarah worked for many years at Woodmar country club, where members and employees adored, loved and admired her. She enjoyed life to the fullest, as she came to know it, in the time God allowed her. Sarah truly loved her children and grandchildren, as well as her great grandchildren. A huge void remains in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Lee Rooks, son Wendell Rooks and Daughter Annette Rooks. She leaves to cherish her precious loving memories four sons Wayne (Kimberly) Rooks, Sr. of Matteson, IL, Kenneth (Patricia) Rooks, Sr. of Lawton, OK, Everette Rooks and Marvin (Connectia) Rooks both of Gary, IN; three daughters Beverly (Courtney Sr.) Bates of Gary, IN, Willette (Tony) Crisp of Merrillville, IN and Vernetta Jones of Matteson, IL; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday October 28, 2016 from 9-11:00a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. both at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery.
