Scott G. Berk

Berk, Scott G. Age 62, of Chesterton, passed away following a heart attack on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso. Scott was born on June 14, 1950, in Chicago the son of Jean and Herman Berk and lived in Chesterton and Valparaiso for the past 20 years. Scott was preceded in death by his father, youngest sister, Donna and brother-in-law, Gerald Munson. He is survived by his mother, Jean Berk; sisters, Ilene Munson and Lauren Scott; nephews, Anthony and Shawn Schleizer, cousins, Jay and Maureen Berk and close friends, RP, Brandon Johnson, Milana Millan, and Davida Hathaway. Scott had a sharp, inquisitive mind, a healthy skepticism towards conventional wisdom and a lifelong love of learning with interests including history, politics, biology, physics and engineering and was an avid chess player, bibliophile, football fan and conversationalist. Scott was much beloved and will be greatly missed. A time of sharing will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Cremation at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory will precede the time of sharing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Democratic National Committee.
