SYLVESTER A. PONDO Hammond, Indiana Age 81 passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 to be reunited with his beloved wife, Helen. He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Bob) Martinez of Crown Point; two sons, Andrew and James Pondo, both of Hammond; three granddaughters, Connie Legg, Danielle (Danny Ruiz) Legg and Charlsie "CC" Martinez; five great grandchildren, Valarie, Baby Danny, Armani, Breann and Collin; three sisters-in-law, Mary (Bob) Bubacz, Martha Kosztyo and Theresa (Jim) Busanic; many nieces and nephews; and his furry companion "Rufio". Preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sisters, Stella and Marian, and brother, Stanley. Funeral services, Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Avenue, Hammond (2 blocks E. of Hohman, 1 block N. of Gostlin); 10 a.m. mass at St. Casimir Church, with Rev. Vladimir Janeczek officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service Friday at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Pondo was a Hammond resident for the past 52 years. A retired employee of Blaw Knox with 35 years of service. A graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt Class of 1945. A longtime member of Midwest Sundowners Model Airplane Club. He was his granddaughter "CC's" greatest fan. A longtime member of St. Casimir Church. In lieu of flowers, mass contributions would be appreciated.
