Thelma Jean Davis

Thelma Jean Davis, born March 3, 1941 in Gary, Indiana. She exchanged time for eternity on August 23, 2021. Thelma was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1959, received her Associates Degree from Indiana University and completed courses in Computer Technology. She was a former employee of St. Mary Medical Center (Occupational Rehab), City of Gary (Law Dept), Assessor's Office (clerk), Press Office, Quality Control (City of Gary) until her retirement in 2004. She was a former member of the Hatcherettes, several boards: Business Professional Women, Salvation Army. She served 32 years in politics. Thelma was a great cook and open her home to anyone wanting or in need of a good meal. Thelma was also known for her fashion and décor. She dedicated her live to Christ and giving to charities. Preceded in death by her 5 sisters Margaret Kimble, Hazel Davis, Arlene Scott, Noa Reed and Deloris Williams; 3 brothers Jesse Davis Jr., Charles Davis and Edgar Davis; She leaves to cherish fond memories: 1 brother Leroy Davis of Texas; sister Louise Davis; son Eric (LaShon) Hampton; daughter Vanessa Hampton; 4 grandchildren Erica Hampton, Shawn Redd all of Gary, IN, Raphael (Destiny) Hampton of Jacksonville, FL and Nigel Hampton of Gary, IN; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday September 2, 2021 from 12 to 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN. Funeral service Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Beyond Four Walls Christian Center, 875 S. Lake St. Gary, IN. Pastor, Dr. W. Maurice White Jr. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
