Thomas McCarthy Obituary

McCarthy Sr., Thomas J. 82, of DeMotte, passed away on October 5, 2013 in Duluth, Minnesota. Born on June 22, 1931 to James and Kathryne McCarthy. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Carmick DMS 33 during the Korean War. He then married Bernadine Senffner and spent 57 wonderful years together. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of DeMotte, as well as Knights of Columbus. Thomas worked for U.S. Steel in the accounting department, and retired after 35 years. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Jack. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadine of DeMotte; children, Thomas (Beth) of MI, Mark (Sharon) of MN, Patrick of Portage, and Scott (Sherri) of Granger, Indiana; also 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. As per family wishes, cremation rites have been chosen. A Graveside Military service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Dave Hoying officiating, a luncheon will follow the memorial mass.
