Valdora "Honey" Johnson

1925 - 2021

Valdora Johnson "Honey" was born May 27, 1925 in Shorter, Alabama to the late Rev Nathan & Lula Floyd Hayden. She departed this life Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Methodist Hospital Southlake. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized in Shorter. Valdora was married to Green Johnson Jr. for 63 years before his passing in 2007. She was a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois from 1957 under the late Rev Clay Evans. In 1968 she became one of the first members of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Gary where her brother Rev Floyd Hayden was founder and pastor. She worked tirelessly in both churches. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and devout woman of God. She was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, 8 brothers and 5 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted daughter Vanessa (Raefael) Walker of Peoria, Arizona, dedicated grandson Garin Hughes of Nashville, Tennessee, 2 sisters Ann Stafford and Mary Lewis, loving, devoted and favorite niece Jo Stafford, all of Gary, New Fellowship Church Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All services Saturday, November 20, 2021 at New Fellowship Baptist Church, 1072 Clinton St, Gary, IN. Visitation 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., funeral at 11:00 a.m., Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith, IN.
