Walter Jones Pierce, Sr., 80, was born to Walter Jones and Carrie Walker in Vicksburg, MS. He was a retiree from Inland Steel. He peacefully passed on July 9, 2021, in his home. Preceded in death by siblings Addie Mae Harried, Cheryl Walker, Jimmie Jones and Willie Walker, Sr; wife Hattie Pierce; and best friend, Grovel Nixon. Walter is survived by his wife and partner of 24 years, Rebecca (Smith) Pierce; children Darryl Pierce, Walter (Tanija) Pierce, Jr, Jonas Pierce, Latasha Pierce, Felicia (Raymond) Harris, and Jamaira Pearson; siblings Bobbie Willis, Gerald (Rebecca) Walker; and a host of other relatives. Visitation Friday, July 16, 2021 from 12:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. with family hours 6-8:00p.m. at Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 West 11th Avenue. Funeral Services Saturday, July 17,2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Agape Tabernacle, 1500 East 49th Avenue, Gary, IN. Pastor Morris Stokes Jr. officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
