Wesol, Walter Age 95, died peacefully at Miller's Merry Manor in Portage, Indiana with his daughter Merrily at his side. Walter is survived by his daughter, Merrily Wesolowski; his son, Lee (Michelle) of New Mexico; his granddaughter, Jennifer (Joe) Orsolini of Chicago and two great-grandsons, Steven and Matthew; and his brother, Leonard (Josephine) of Florida; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille (Szutiak); his parents, Mateusz (Matthew) and Maria Wesolowski; his brother, Joseph and his sister, Wanda Jay. Walter was born on August 26, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois and was the second of four children. In 1941 he married his wife Lucille. They dedicated their lives to their God and to his son, Jesus Christ. Walter spent the remainder of his life studying God's wonderful plan of salvation for the entire world of mankind. He loved the promises to Abraham where God said that he would "bless ALL the families of mankind, both the living and the dead." He believed that a resurrection to the earth was made possible by the loving sacrifice of Jesus for Adam, and through him the entire race. He loved God's plan as outlined in the Bible showing two salvations. The first being those who sought in this life to follow in Jesus' footsteps of self-sacrifice to death and who, if faithful in this life, will live and reign with Christ. These will help those of the second salvation, the remainder of mankind, to walk up the Highway of Holiness to restored health, happiness and life. Walter was called to the army in World War II and served two years in India. Because of his firm pacifist belief, he served as a conscientious objector. His life was profoundly impacted by scenes of starvation, leprosy, death, etc., which remained with him until his last breath. In 1951 he developed leg ulcers which plagued him for over 60 years until his death. He and his wife purchased a farm in Indiana. His land was farmed by the Hallberg family, who he considered extended family. He always enjoyed the peace and quiet that rural life afforded him. All who knew Walter loved his cheerful disposition. He could so often be heard saying, "Don't get O-L-D," "We're all of one family," "Soon everyone will learn we are all brothers and hatred and fighting will cease forever," and "God has promised everyone 100 years in his kingdom (Isa. 65:20) to learn righteousness and if faithful, live forever." Special thanks to Dr. Denise Weaver, who for years tended to his wounds, kept him comfortable and allowed him to retain his legs to the end. Also to the VNA, Dr. A. Malik, hospice service and Miller's Merry Manor for making his last years and days peaceful. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home in Crown Point, Indiana.
