1964 - 2016

William Mark Van Soest, age 51, of DeMotte, IN passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Horton VNA Hospice in Valparaiso, IN. Mark was born on December 15, 1964 in Valparaiso, the son of William "Bill" and Mary (DeVries) Van Soest, both are living. Mark was a lifetime resident of DeMotte. He was a graduate of Kankakee Valley High School, class of 1983. Marks previous marriages and mother's of his children were Sharon (John) Shanahan of Valparaiso, IN & Amy Van Soest of DeMotte. Mark was employed with Belstra Milling INC as a Plant Production Manager for 19 years. He served on the Keener Twp Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years and enjoyed grilling for Yesteryears. Mark was a member of the First Reformed Church in DeMotte and had served on the church consistory. Mark enjoyed gardening, fishing, trapping and splitting wood. Mark is survived by his loving children, William Craig (Lauren) Van Soest of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Bradley Van Soest, Holly Van Soest and Jenna Van Soest all of DeMotte; grandchildren, William Thomas "Tommy" Van Soest and Owen Bradlee; parents, William "Bill" & Mary Ann Van Soest of DeMotte; sister, Kathryn (Ed) Tillema of Wheatfield, IN, brother, John (Starla) Van Soest of DeMotte; two aunts; two uncles. Mark was preceded in death by one aunt. Friends may visit at the Jackson Funeral Service in DeMotte, IN from 2-8 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the First Reformed Church of DeMotte with Pastor John Huff officiating. Interment will be held at the Holland Cemetery.
