Anthony "Tony" J. Talarczyk
Anthony Joseph Talarczyk, age 91, of Menasha, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015, with his family by his side at Valley VNA in Neenah. On May 30, 1923, Tony was born in Antigo to the late Nicolas and Katherine Talarczyk. Tony grew up and graduated from high school in Antigo and was a Red Robin enthusiast his whole life. He loved reminiscing about growing up on a farm and enjoyed telling stories about his 7 siblings and his horses, Dolly and Daisy. Tony enlisted in the US Army, was deployed to Europe in 1943 and proudly served his country for 3 years. On August 23, 1947, Tony married the love of his life, Mary Pakalski, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha. As a member of St. John's he had been active in the Holy Name Society and the Polish Falcons. He worked at Kimberly-Clark for over 40 years and was the financial secretary for the local Papermakers Union. Tony loved golf and would have golfed every day of the year if he could. Tony and Mary enjoyed many winters in Florida, but what brought Tony the most joy was interacting with children, especially his grandchildren. Listening, teaching, tickling, teasing, watching sporting, musical, and drama events were all done with a huge smile on Tony's face.
Tony will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary; their children: Janet (Paul) Schoultz, Susan (Patrick) Harrington, and Alan (Sue) Talarczyk; his grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Schoultz, Adam (Kelly) Schoultz, Jennifer (Guy) Pollington, Jillian Talarczyk, Kate (Chris) Statz, and Sam Talarczyk; his great-grandchildren: John and Tony Schoultz and Eli Statz; his step great-grandchildren: Abby and Emily Pollington and many loving nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his very special grandson, John Harrington, who we know has wasted no time showing Grandpa all the cool things there are in Heaven; his brothers: Steve (Arvis), Cash (Eleanore), Joe (Verna); his sisters: Kate (Harry) Tietz, Vern (Joe) Drzewiecki, Mary (Clem) Boncyk, Anne (Steve) Koszarek and his brothers-in-law: Ben (Millie) Pakalski, Ray (Angie) Pakalski.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 18 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 528 Second Street in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The Memorial Gathering will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the Mass at the church with Military Rites to follow the Mass. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Curtis Baltz, the staff at Valley VNA and the Theda Care at Home Hospice for the kindness and care given to Tony. They would also like to thank the many loving nieces and nephews, family and friends that have helped over the years. Your thoughtfulness hasn't gone unnoticed.
