Arlene B. Cherkasky

Appleton - 89, passed away peacefully, in her Appleton, WI home, surrounded by Rudy, her husband of 65 years, and other family members and caregivers. Arlene was born in Chicago on September 13, 1929 to Ben and Dora Specktor. The family relocated to St Paul, Minnesota where Arlene grew up and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in education. She started teaching elementary school in Rochester Mn until she met Rudy " the love of her life" and moved to Appleton after their marriage on March 21, 1954. Arlene had a very full life in Appleton, teaching 3rd grade and participating in many community groups including Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge, Kings Daughters and the Moses Montefiore Synagogue.

Arlene was an avid boater and downhill skier and loved weaving, knitting and traveling with Rudy.

In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by her son Miles (Laureen McMorow) daughter Jody (Paul) Swanson; her grandchildren: Alexandra and Michael and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a deep and heartfelt thank you to Tom and Mary Smith for their enduring love and friendship, and to Arlene's wonderful and compassionate caregivers, Tammy Jack, Amy Regal, Amber Fleming and Susan Verhagen.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Brettschneider Trettin Nickel Funeral Chapel at 10 AM with Rabbi Katz officiating. Following will be the burial at Moses Montefiore Cemetery, Appleton.
