Arnold Enz Obituary

Arnold Enz Sr.

Scandinavia - Arnold Joseph Enz Sr., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 5th at the age of 75, surrounded by loved ones after a tenacious 19-year battle with prostate cancer. He was born on June 3rd, 1945 to Elmer and Rose Enz in Green Bay.

He married Susan Hoelzel at St. Gabriel's Catholic church in Neenah, Wisconsin on February 8th, 1964 and had four children: Sarah, Arnold Jr., Jeffrey, and Jill.

Arnold was committed to seeing things through. He rose from a machine operator to the superintendent of the finishing department of Neenah Paper Whiting-Plover. He obtained his degrees in Philosophy and History while maintaining a seven-day work week schedule at Neenah Paper. He enjoyed the unconditional love of many dogs throughout the years, he was passionate about ancient philosophy, and he found joy in restoring old sports cars. Through participation in medical research and mentorship, Arnold supported other men on their prostate cancer journeys. Arnold helped shape a world that is more adept at fighting prostate cancer.

He leaves behind his wife, his four children and his nine grandchildren.

A private ceremony on the farm will be held with family at a later date. In honor of the loving dogs who took their turn at Arnold's side, donations can be made to the Waupaca Humane Society.

I had the honor and privilege of retiring from the Whiting mill on the same day with Arnie. He was an amazing and inspiring man both as a co-worker and friend. He was most inspiring in his efforts to educate other men on the dangers of prostate cancer after his diagnosis. I am happy that he survived as long as he did, but still very sad that he passed so young. I'm sure that he will be greatly missed by all.

Uncle - "one who helps, advises, or encourages." Arnie's picture should be placed in Miriam-Webster's Dictionary. He took me on my first motorcycle ride. He inspired me to read the "Tao of Pooh", to drive to Cleveland, Ohio and to drink real good beer even if I was a poor college student. The stories he shared over the years about life, his brother (my dad) and being an Enz. Uncle Arnie, my dad (Dallas), my brother (Gerald), Grandma Rose and Granpa Elmer are all together now. We will miss him but know that we are all the better because of him. Our family extends our prayers and love to his entire family.

Although I didn’t know Arnie well, I will remember him as a gentle soul, I was always greeted with a warm smile. I am sure his entire family will miss him greatly. My condolences.

Very sorry for your loss. Arnie made this world a better place; I have very fond memories from my childhood getting to see the caboose and visit with all the family including Arnie. I remember him introducing his dog and making me(and everyone else) laugh. I will continue to cherish those times. He was a great man who will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers with all his closest loved ones at this time.
