Bernice 'Bea' left this earth for her heavenly home on May 22, 2017 surrounded by her family, at the age of 95 years. She was born on December 14, 1921 in Greenville, the daughter of the late Oscar and Angela (Gabriel) Tennie.

In 1941, she married Norman Abitz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. He passed away in 1965. In 1968, she married Herbert Brill who passed away in 1993.

She is survived by her sons: John (Betty) Abitz, De Pere and James (Kris) Abitz, Hubertus; daughter: Kathleen (Robert) Jewell, Appleton; nine grandchildren: Cheryl (Duke) Kuettel, Jennifer (Darren) Kuettel, Stefanie (Jacque) Grun, David (Sheila) Abitz, Kevin (Julie) Abitz, Amy (John) Schwalenberg, Sarah (Bryan) Fletcher, Kelly (Kurt) Bertram and Robert (Cortney) Jewell Jr; 19 great-grandchildren: Carson, Kala, Derek, Kaley, Haley, Mitchell, Timothy, Mackenzie, Miles, Maris, Hunter, Braxton, Chase, Gracie, Sophia, Alexa, Taylor, Jacob and Kruz; two step-daughters: Nancy Gygax and Sharon Jarvis, and several step-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Ila Abitz and brother-in-law: Jerry (Althea) Abitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a son Thomas from leukemia; brothers: Harold, Victor and Roman Tennie and sisters: Marcella Deimer and Eleanor Wagner.

Bernice was an honor roll member of the Ladies Aid and Past Officers Club at St. Paul Lutheran Church. One of her biggest joys was knitting sweaters for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Bea also enjoyed playing cards with friends.

A funeral service for Bea will be held at 5PM, Thursday, May 25, Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel from 3PM until the time of service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for St. Paul Lutheran Church and Fox Valley Lutheran High School. The family would like to thank the staffs of Kindred Hearts, Greenville and Heartland Hospice for their care of Bea.
