Charles McBride Obituary

Charles "Nate" McBride

Appleton - Nate was taken from us on Saturday, April 21, doing what he loved best: kayaking and taking wildlife pictures. Nate was many things to many people, but most importantly Nate was a loving, doting husband to his wife, Jodi; their kids Brigette (28) and Charles Andrew "Drew" (21), and their grandchildren, Alexandrea (8), and Clairessa (5). His smile lit up a room, his laugh contagious, and his hugs you could get lost in. He was the most kind, compassionate soul. He loved his pets, and would start every morning on the floor, rubbing bellies and scratching ears. He was a well-known massage therapist in the Appleton area who had helped so many clients over the years. He was a perfectionist in his work and it showed in all of the building projects he did to make our house our home. His real passion has always been the riverways. An avid kayaker, he could always be spotted about town with at least one kayak on his car year-round. If the sun was out and the water flowing, he was paddling. He recently picked up nature photography and with his unlimited patience, was able to take some breathtaking photos of life on the river. He was a loving son, papa, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. In addition to his wife, Jodi, their children Brigette and Drew, and grandchildren Lexi and Claire, Nate is survived by his Mother, Carla Spencer, his Father and Step-Mother, Charlie and Ruby McBride, his sister, Kimberly Kuhn, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Nate will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday April 27, 2018 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Luke Telford officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to dedicate a stone bench along the river in Nate's memory.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Nate only professionally but he was such a loving, open person who shared his love of family, pets, kayaking and photography as he worked. We shared our love of wildlife photography and he showed me his great new lens and eagle photos he had recently taken. I was out of town and just learned what happened. He will be dearly missed but I will never forget his smile and enthusiasm. God,bless you.
