Clyde Kiser Obituary

Clyde W. Kiser "Klid", 95, Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, November 18, 2011. He was born in Oshkosh on May 22, 1916, the son of the late Clyde Edward and Martha (Pethke) Kiser. At the age of 17, Clyde joined the Civil Conservation Corp as a Towerman. Clyde then enlisted and was proud to serve his country in the United States Army during WWII, including the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, as well as Germany, Czechoslovakia and England. Upon returning home he worked at Appleton Atlas Mill, where he met the love of his life, Betty Lou Tauzin. They wed on November 1, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church. After working at various construction companies, Clyde finished out his working years at Allis-Chalmers, formerly Valley Iron Works, retiring in 1979. He was a self taught person and very intelligent, loving to read and recite poetry, and study history. Clyde was an avid trout fisherman, and hunter, spending many years at his cottage in Dunbar, WI. He will be remembered for his pranks, quick wit, and sense of humor.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Betty; children, Carol (Tony) Montonati, Linda (Don) Lecker, Steve (Lynn) Kiser, Jeannine (Jim) Krull, and David (Cindy) Kiser; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey (Ron) Thiel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Clyde Kiser; grandchildren: Timothy, Renee and Hope Montonati; sister, Irma Groth; brothers: Fred, Vernon, Russell and Kenny Kiser; and mother-in-law, Esther Tauzin.

A visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Star of Hope Chapel, Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Fox River Assisted Living for taking such great care of "Klid." Further, a special thank you to Ruth Wulgaert and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their tender compassion.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Clyde Kiser's name is being established.
