Denise, Daniel, Herm & Turk, I cannot tell you how sad we are to learn of Darryl's untimely passing. Though I never had the privilege to meet Darryl, I am pretty sure that he was a great person like the rest of his siblings. We are so sad hearing about Darryl. Over the last 29 years Jim and I have had many good times with him. Being a co worker Jim alway's liked his Big smile and positive attitude. Alway's willing to help when called upon. I knew him only through his Brother Dennis and social scenes. Except for a trip to Las Vegas . I loved playing jokes on him and did so there. We have had many laughs about that ! Your dad was a wonderful friend, son and I am sure a loving father to you both.i know he loved to fish, party and have fun! Our Bassett Holiday parties won't be the same. We will miss him. Love Sherry and Jim C Bassett, i won't forget his big grin!

Darryl's guiding force with the Salvation Army Advisory Board will be greatly missed. His servant leadership was outstanding and guided us to help local families in need. Darryl was a wonderful mentor who had such clarity. I will miss our conversations about Polaris "snowmachines" along with fishing of all kinds. Keeping Darryl and his family close in our thoughts and prayers.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I lived with Darryl back in the early 80s and have many fond memories of those times. Later, when I was going through some difficult times, Darryl always let me know that he was there for me – and he never wavered in his friendship and support. I'll never forget that. I moved to the West Coast in 1990, but had the chance to catch-up with him a few years ago. It was fun to reconnect and we jumped into our conversation as if no time had lapsed. His love of his children was at the forefront of our talk, and he showed me photos and told me about them with such fatherly pride (last time I saw them, they were babies). I wish the family strength as they come to terms with this loss. Darryl was a class act and the thought of him will always be accompanied by a smile.

I haven't seen Darryl since we were very young, but I will never forget the time he came to my defense in 5th grade when another classmate was bullying me behind my back and making fun of the clothes my mother had picked out for me. You never forget the people who have left a positive impression in your life. Clearly he carried that positive spirit forward throughout his life and was one of the best. Unfortunately, sometimes the good die too young. Sending deep condolences to all who knew and loved him.

DD: My visits to Bassett will never be the same! You were much more than a customer, you were a dear friend. May God now hold you in his arms because you certainly deserve all comforts of Heaven. Molly, Justin and Brandon: Your Dad was one of the "Best". We often swapped stories about our "kids" and he was so proud of each of you. Be strong as I know your Dad would want you to be. You can always talk to him because he will forever be so close in your hearts.
