Dennis Riley Obituary

Dennis L. Riley

Appleton - Dennis L. Riley, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Dennis was born in Milwaukee on May 3, 1945 the son of Verlyn and June (Hafeman) Riley. Dennis attended Waukesha South High School before graduating from Ripon College in 1967, at which time he received his commission in the United States Army. That same year Dennis married Bonnie Binkoff, beginning a 50-year marriage and shared life together.

His lifelong career in the information technology field began in Milwaukee with J.C. Penney and then Miller Brewing Company. In 1984, he and his family moved to Appleton. He worked for Kimberly-Clark Corporation and then—for over two decades—Appleton Papers, before retiring in 2006. In retirement, Dennis enjoyed his volunteer work with Appleton Art Center and the Trout Museum of Art.

A voracious reader, Dennis loved books. He also relished travelling with family in the United States and Europe, and attending live theater performances both near and far.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his son, Timothy (Kris) and their boys Theo and Max Pupillo; his daughter, Erin (Jonathan) Stroebel and their twin boys Jameson and Brendan Stroebel. Dennis is also survived by his parents and brother, Dale (Paula Jo) Riley, his niece, Aimee Riley and her daughter, Abigail; nephew Bryon (Maria) and their son Jacen.

In accordance with Dennis' wishes, a private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Dennis' family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the ThedaCare Hospice staff that have become part of the family over the last six months—the tremendous RNs Christine, Katie, and Paige; dearest Paula the CNA; and kindhearted social worker Robin.

In lieu of flowers and plants—and in keeping with Dennis' committed support of liberal arts education—donations may be made to the Ripon College Annual Fund.

Jim and Dennis engaged in a hearty conversation at the winery one afternoon. We send our sincerest condolences to Bonnie and the entire family on this sad occasion.
