Douglas Boll Obituary

Douglas R. Boll, age 61, went home into the arms of Jesus on December 8, 2016 after complications resulting from frequent seizures. Doug was born on March 11, 1955 in Appleton, to the late Otto and LaVerne (Hoelzel) Boll. Doug lived with his parents until he moved into Agape 1. When Agape 1 was going to close their doors, Doug would have had to relocate, but two angels named Steve and Missy came forward to welcome Doug into their home. He has been living with them since December 2007. They were his 2nd parents. The care and love that he received from them was as if he was their own child.

Doug had been employed at the Ponderosa in Appleton and also at Valley Packaging. He participated in activities through the ARC and enjoyed baseball and bowling. He looked forward to going to summer camp at Camp LuWisSoMo and fishing. Anyone who knew Doug, knew that he was both a Bear's fan and a Cub's fan by the apparel he chose to wear. Doug's dream came true this year when the Cubs won the World Series. He enjoyed the very simple things in life like going to Moto Mart every day for a soda after returning from Valley Packaging. One of Doug's favorite dishes was his Aunt Dolores' bean soup.

Doug is survived by Steve and Missy, Aunt Dolores Diedrick, Uncle Don Hoelzel, Aunt MaryLou Hoelzel, and Aunt Ida Boll. He is also survived by numerous cousins.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and LaVerne Boll, Uncle Ernest Diedrick, Uncle Dennis Hoelzel, Aunt Pat Hoelzel, Aunt Henrietta Milligan, Uncle Ken Boll and cousins Lois and Bill Diedrick.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, December 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Father Dennis Bergsbacken officiating. Friends and relatives may visit in the Sacred Heart Room at church on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

On behalf of Bruce and Elaine Diedrick, Doug's guardians, we would like to thank Steve and Missy, the doctors and nurses who cared for Doug, the staff at Brewster Village, Sacred Heart Care Ministry, his friends at Valley Packaging and our family and friends who held us all in prayer.

Doug will be missed! He gave the best, most sincere hand shake, and was not only a co-worker, but a friend to my son. We shared a loyalty to the Bears and Cubs, and I always looked forward to the way his face lit up when we talked about them. He was a very kind man with an infectious smile! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Much love, Josh and Jorie
