Gerald Gajewski Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) Francis Gajewski passed away peacefully in his wife's loving arms on February 5, 2021 after a short battle with Cancer. He was the youngest child of 12, born to Anton and Gertrude Gajewski on March 8, 1940. Jerry graduated from Denmark High School in 1958 and first worked for the Town of Allouez, then at Fort Howard Paper Company for 30 years where he retired in 1997. Well… Jerry never really retired. He always kept himself busy whether it was chipping in and helping his children with their businesses or going over to the neighbors and friends when needed for "projects." He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jerry enjoyed going to their cottage and looking out the window and seeing nature… the birds, deer, and occasionally bear, and their cubs. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers and close friends and fishing trips to Canada.
He had a wonderful marriage to Betty for 59 years. They had 3 children: Debbie (Rod Brown), Brian (Sue), Bruce (Amy) and 5 grandchildren: Brittany, Alex, Adam (Alayna), Brooke, and Garrett.
Jerry and Betty always made time for date night. They would go bowling or enjoy Friday fish fries with friends. They also liked to travel and see America. In the early days it was camping, later in life it was going on bus trips and spending time in Florida over the winter months.
He was a man of strong faith, A member of Resurrection Parish, where he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His friendly face and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Jerry is further survived by: his sister Rita Greatens, brothers: Robert, Clark (Ann), Kenneth (Annette). Preceded in death by sisters: Arlene, Marcella (Bernie) Thompson, Evelyn (Robert) Dahlke, Mary Ann (Ralph) Watzka, Ethel (William) Hansford, brothers: Tony (Angie), Jack (Elaine), and in-laws Donald Greatens and Marge Gajewski.
Out of concerns surround COVID-19, visitation and funeral services for Jerry will be PRIVATE for family only on Friday, February 12. Visitation for those invited will be at Resurrection Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, from 9:30am until 10:45am with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am. Fr. Tom Reynebeau will officiate. The public may view a live stream of the funeral mass at www.gbres.org/live beginning at 11:00am
At this the time the family would like to thank Dr. Maria D de Villa, and the Bellin Cancer Team, as well as Unity Hospice for their care.

Our family lived a block away and I was best of friends with Jerry and Betty’s son, Brian, for a lot of years. I can still see Jerry coming home from work with his lunch bucket in hand and a smile on his face. Jerry was a happy guy and all the Gajewskis were a big part of my early life. All the best to Betty, my good friend Brian, Bruce and Debbie.

To Betty and family,
My sincerest condolences to you. Jerry or as we knew him “Schmedly” had a heart of gold and had an unbeatable friendly nature. He sparkled at our Critter Fries and trips to Canada. We always had lots of good, good times. Meet Jerry once and he was your friend. I will miss him.
