Henricus John "Harry" Timmers

1921 - 2011

Henricus "Harry" John Timmers, 90, of Midland, died Monday morning, November 14, 2011 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1921 in Uden, Netherlands, son of the late John Peter and Francine (VanLieshout) Timmers. He came to the U.S. in 1949 settling in Minnesota, and later moving to Kaukauna, Wisconsin. On May 4, 1954 he married the former Maria Johanna Reijnen in Combined Locks, Wisconsin. She predeceased him March 7, 2011. Harry was employed for many years as a computer operator in the paper industry in both Combined Locks and Appleton, Wisconsin, retiring in 1986. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Midland to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. He enjoyed caring for his grandchildren while they were growing and also enjoyed working in the outdoors, gardening and landscaping. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children, Francis Timmers and his wife Debra of Midland; and Fr. Jozef Peter Timmers O.F.M. Cap. of Tocumen, Panama; two grandchildren, Margaret M. Butko and her husband Nicholas of San Diego, CA; and Henry R. Timmers of Tucson, AZ; two brothers and one sister, Theodore Timmers and his wife Toos of Appleton, WI; Anton Timmers of Uden, Netherlands; and Antonia Linders and her husband Frank of Erp, Netherlands. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Wilhemine Timmers of Uden, Netherlands and his friend Dreama Wolker of Midland. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Wim Timmers, Jan Timmers, Rev. Albert Timmers and Nolda Bekkers.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Midland. His son, Fr. Jozef Peter Timmers O.F.M. Cap. and Fr. Peter Gaspeny will both concelebrate with entombment to take place at 10 a.m. CST, Monday, November 28, 2011 in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton, Wisconsin. Harry's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 1200 West Wheeler St Midland, Michigan on Monday from 4-6 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.
