Hilary Rosenheim Obituary

Rosenheim, Hilary

Hilary M. Rosenheim, age 26, of Hilliard, Ohio (formerly of Clintonville) died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at her home.

Hilary Marie Rosenheim was born on July 29, 1989 at Clintonville Hospital to John and Rita (Hicks) Rosenheim. She was raised in Clintonville and graduated from Clintonville High School in 2007. While in school she played percussion in concert, marching, and jazz band, earning the Louis Armstrong Jazz award as a senior. Also in high school she played softball and soccer, was part of the chess team in Marion, participated in the Math League in Clintonville, and could solve the Rubik's Cube in just minutes. She received the Pi Award in high school for memorizing 1,027 digits of the endless number. After high school, Hilary attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN, graduating in 2011. She then went on to medical school at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. Hilary was united in marriage on May 10, 2015 to Jessie G. Ellner, M.D., in New York, NY, and the couple settled in Hilliard, OH, to be close to college and the hospital.

She is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and also attended Family of Christ Church, both in Clintonville. Hilary was involved in various activities at both churches, but will be especially remembered playing the drums at Family of Christ. She was gifted musically and could play not only the drums but the piano as well. Hilary enjoyed ballroom dancing, painting with acrylics on canvas, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She was always a problem solver, which lead her to pursue her dream of becoming an ER Doctor or a General Family Practitioner. Hilary had a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful smile that lit up the room, and was always helping someone else. She liked to bake desserts and even made birthday cakes for lots of her friends.

Survivors include her spouse, Jessie; her mother, Rita (Edward) Braund of Clintonville; her father, John (Janice) Rosenheim of Clintonville; her father and mother-in-law, James Theobald and Vivian Ellner of New York, NY. There are four aunts, Miriam (Miguel Moscoso) Ellner of New York, NY, Carol Samson of Honolulu, HI, Dot Bannon of Gilbert, AZ, and Tobi Hicks of Sun City, AZ. There are three uncles, Tom (Valerie) Theobald of Bolton, MA, Ray (Mary Ellen) Hicks of Stevensville, MI, and David Hicks, also her Godfather, of Benton Harbor, MI. She is further survived by five aunts and one uncle on the Braund side, and many other relatives and friends. Hilary is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pete and Marie Hicks, paternal grandparents, Don and Jean Rosenheim, a maternal aunt, Rosemary Stevens, and a maternal uncle, Don Hicks.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 11:00 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, 24 Seventh Street, Clintonville, WI 54929. Fr. John "Jack" Mullarkey and Deacon Lincoln Wood will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, 299 S. Main St., Clintonville, WI, and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a college scholarship fund with be established in Hilary Rosenheim's name to help a student enter the medical field.

Hilary and I bonded over our shared love for chemistry at Carleton followed closely by a deep love for music. She was so proud of her identity that being with her enabled me to be proud of mine too, something I am grateful for and will never forget. I was so glad she had found someone to share her life with and a path she was passionate about. My thoughts are with her wife, friends, and family.

I knew Hillary quite well through our time together in IQ. She was one of the most genuinely passionate people I have ever known. A lot of people go into medicine for the wrong reasons, but Hillary wasn't one of them. She would have been an exceptional physician. My sincerest condolences to Jessie and Hillary's family on this tragic loss.

Although I didn't know Hilary personally, her talents, intellect, and amazing accomplishments speak for themselves. I can't even imagine what you must feel at this moment. Such a lovely person should never have to pass, especially at this young age. I wish peace, hope, and love upon you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Hiliary was the newest member of our family, and I was so excited to finally get to meet her at her wedding last spring. I could tell right away that she would make a wonderful doctor because she was so vibrant and caring. My thoughts and prayers are with my cousin Jessie and Hiliary's family during this very difficult time.

I remember being so impressed by Hilary when she interviewed at our medical school (and of course, we accepted her), and that feeling only grew as her years with us went by. My most sincere sympathies to Jessie, another one of our amazing students, and to Hilary's parents. It is a tragedy for all, including for the patients she would have treated so well.
