Ione Kobussen Obituary
"Grameo"
Ione B. Kobussen, age 96, of Appleton, passed away at Matthews of Appleton on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Ione was born on May 14, 1918, in Kaukauna, to the late Paul and Erna Mae Damro. She married Karl Kobussen on July 1, 1941, in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death. Ione was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and Karl were long-time members of the Elks Club in Kaukauna, enjoyed golfing together, playing cards with friends and were avid Packer fans. They were "Snow Birds" and enjoyed their winters in Arizona to stretch out the golf season, but especially enjoyed time spent with their grandchildren and great grandson.
Survivors include her son, Jay (Helen) Kobussen, Appleton, and her daughter, Janis Limon, Mesa, Arizona; her grandchildren, Alissa Kobussen (fiancé Brandon Heise); Emily Kobussen- Schmitz; and Mathew Kobussen (fiancé Katherine Schemmel); and her great grandson, Julian Jay Schmitz. Ione was preceded in death by her brother Clifford Damro.
The family wishes to thank Mary Kober, caretaker and friend for her faithful visits over the past seven years. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary, O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in Ione's name. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmanfargo.com
