Jane Staples Williams Koeferl

Appleton - Jane S. Williams Koeferl, age 85, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2021. Jane was born on November 18, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, as the daughter of the late Gladys and Stephen Williams. At age forty-three, Jane was determined to complete her education - attending and graduating from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater where she earned her undergraduate degree. Immediately, she enrolled in the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee to pursue her Master's Degree in Social Work, which she completed in eighteen months. She elected to join Children's Service Society as her initial entrance into social services. She was a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), committing her entire career to family and social services. Jane retired from the Catholic Social Services of the Green Bay Diocese in 2001, followed by several years in psychiatric practices and ThedaCare healthcare system. Jane's legacy includes making a significant contribution to the agency's behavioral health program. She lived her live with passion and purpose about her work, building trusting relationships, and providing quality mental health services that met the needs of a changing community.

After their marriage in 1977, Jane and Frank lived briefly in Milwaukee followed by a home in East Troy. In 1984, they moved to Appleton - making Appleton their permanent home for the past thirty-seven years.

Jane's love for shopping and seafood was only superseded by her love for spending time at their lake home on Brown Lake near Rhinelander, enjoying time with her family and friends. Jane also had a unique talent for fashion, enjoying putting together colorful ensembles from jewelry and handbags to shoes and everything in between. Jane also loved staying current in her field, reading psychology-related books in abundance. Additionally, Jane enjoyed indulging in her favorite pleasure of glancing through family photos and an occasional edition of People magazine.

Jane is survived by her husband, Francis (Frank) Joseph Koeferl, children: David Neu (Esperanza Martinez) and Julie Olson (Brian); granddaughters: Danielle and Alexandra Neu; and brother Stephen E. Williams (Annie).

The family wishes to thank the staff at Brewster Village for the compassion and care they demonstrated over the last two years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Appleton with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be Monday directly at church from 10 AM until the time of Mass. She will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
