Janet Van Hoof Obituary
Freedom - Janet E. Van Hoof, age 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on December 7, 2020. She was born on July 8, 1940, in Freedom, daughter of the late Norbert and Harriet (Schumacher) Green. Janet married James "Jim" Van Hoof on June 27, 1959, and he preceded her in death in 2014.
Janet was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, mostly with her grandkids and great grandkids. Mom was a dedicated Packer and Brewer fan. She enjoyed spending her summer/fall in WI, but loved FL in winter. She enjoyed a good card game of hand & foot. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma and will be missed dearly.
Janet is survived by her children: Michael (Dawn Christensen) Van Hoof, Sue (Mark) Geiger, Pat (Chris) Van Hoof, Ed (Stacey Hennessey) Van Hoof, Lynn (Chris) Gerdmann, Mark (Melissa) Van Hoof and Jill (Kevin) Smith; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Elaine (Dan) Bowers, Joyce (Jim) Golden and Donna Woldt; in-laws: Bernie Green and Gary (Sue) Van Hoof; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; parents, Norbert and Harriet Green; grandson, Aaron Gerdmann; brother, Earl Green; in-laws: Bob Woldt, Bob (Irene) Van Hoof, Jane (Amil) Witter and Shirley (Orv) Evers.
A private family member only memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom. The service can be viewed on the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home Facebook Page at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Janet's name to benefit Dementia and Parkinson organizations. Janet's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers that took such amazing care of our mom. Ana Rosa, Claudia, Karen, Shannon and Trinity thank you for making our Mom smile a little every day.
