Jerald "Koby" Kobussen

Kimberly - Jerald J. "Koby" Kobussen, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021, at home with his loving wife, Nancy, and furry friend, Buster, by his side. Koby was born on July 11, 1944, to Wilbert and Grace (Hermans) Kobussen. He was a veteran having served in the Army. On March 12, 1982, he was united in marriage to Nancy Polakowski. Koby was a proud third generation firefighter and paramedic for the Kaukauna Fire Department, retiring in 1997. He had a passion for golf and was proud to let everyone know that he had 5 holes-in-one! After retirement, he and Nancy traveled in their RV and became Florida snowbirds. In addition to his passion for golf, Koby enjoyed camping, boating, traveling and gardening. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Koby is survived by his wife, Nancy; children: Kay (Scott) Gahr, and Kurt Kobussen; grandson, Kamden Gahr; brother-in-law, Ron Reichel; father-in-law, Bob Polakowski; brothers-in-law: John (Cary) Polakowski, Tom Polakowski, Jim (Marta) Polakowski, and sister-in-law, Joan (Mike) Wettstein; godson, Kody Knaus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Koby was preceded in death by his parents, his step mom, Marie Kobussen; sister, Janice Reichel; mother-in-law, Lena Polakowski; and brother-in-law, Paul Polakowski.

The service for Koby will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Verkuilen Van Deurzen Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Paul Russo and his entire staff for their compassionate care for Jerry, especially in the past year. They would also like to thank their neighbors, Sam and Lori, as well as Mark and Mary, for always being there to lend a helping hand any time of the day or night!

Dear Nancy, Bob,John, Tom, Jim, Joan, and Family,
We are so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. Our paths didn't cross often but when they did the goodness and kindness of the man came out. I will never forget the day he helped move my mother out of her house so she could enter assisted living. It was a rough time for us and he made it easier.
