John Hintzke Obituary

John J. Hintzke

New London - Age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Washington Center. He was born on April 7, 1920 in New London, son of the late Theodore and Anastasia (Weshneski) Hintzke. John, along with his wife Elaine of 70 years farmed and drilled wells in the New London area for many years. John was monumental in creating what is now Hintzke Well Drilling, Inc. as a true business activity. In 1956 he had the largest registered herd Polled Guernsey's in the world at 25. John was very active his whole life. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, hunting until age 94, shooting many bucks throughout the years, and participating in county fairs. He also enjoyed playing the organ and piano, playing cards and eating popcorn. He was a long time member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, served as a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus as well as an usher at church for 48 years. He was a member of the Outagamie County Conservation Club and was known for his many "catch phrases".

He is survived by his daughter, Judy Jensen; two sons: Jim (Jeanne); Jan (Anita Spahn); daughter in-law, Sharon Hintzke; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. John is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elaine in 2011, son Snap Hintzke; infant son Jay Hintzke; twin brother Francis; sisters Marcella, Evelyn and Marie.

Funeral Mass for John will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. The Knights of Columbus will hold Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Washington Center and Heartland Hospice for all their care and concern of John.

Our deepest condolences to the Hintzke family. It was always humbling to run into John when he was out and about. He always held my hand when we talked (his hands were so soft and missing a few fingers!) and had little words of encouragement or a warning, so I could protect myself. Short and sweet. A gentle person with a loving heart.
