Joseph VanHaaster Obituary
Neenah - Joseph A. Van Haaster, age 85 of Neenah, passed away early Saturday, April 10, 2021. On March 7, 1960 he married Angela Tock in Waukegan, Illinois. The marriage was blessed with a son, two daughters, and 55 wonderful years, before Angela passed away in 2015.
Joe worked for many years at the Neenah Foundry and was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Neenah.
Joe loved his family more than anything. After Angela's death, he moved into Brookstone Commons where he acquired many friends, whom he also loved. He was a man of few hobbies, those of which included traveling, and watching movies and TV, specifically Gunsmoke. He was also an amazing singer, a talent of which few people knew.
Joe is survived by his children: Brian Van Haaster (partner Lisa); Christine (Tony) Toon; and Laura (Caesar) Salazar; by 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Andrew Van Haaster.
A Memorial Service for Joe will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1025 Tullar Rd., Neenah, Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Joe's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Prairie Homes and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their care and compassion, as well as to his sister-in-law, Lynn for her companionship over the last few years.
