Keith Fry Obituary

Fry, Keith Harley

Keith Harley Fry, 79, Appleton, passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer on Wed. July 6, 2016 at Rennes Health Care Center. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on Oct. 28, 1936, the son of the late Ada and Homer Fry. On August 25, 1962 Keith married Sharon Fradin in Louisville, KY. After marriage the couple moved to Colorado Springs, CO where Keith served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. Keith was a member of Moses Montefiore Synagogue.

He attended East High School and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Morningside College in the class of 1959 and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master's Degree in Art in 1961.

Sharon and Keith moved to Chicago and Keith took a position with the Kemper Insurance Co. They moved to Appleton in 1967 and Keith began working with the McClone Insurance Agency and later for Ademino Insurance Agency, retiring in 2007.

Keith will be remembered as an extremely talented artist of modern drawings and paintings. He displayed his art work at exhibits including Bergstrom Art Museum Shows, Oshkosh Public Museum, Ripon College, Rohr Center, Manitowoc and one man shows at The Wild Apple, Menasha and The Flying Pig, Algoma. He was known for his love of classical music; his knowledge of the history of both the wines he enjoyed drinking and of the smoking pipes he collected.

He will be remembered for his dry humor and his generous gifts to his wife and daughter; never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. He also enjoyed meeting his friends each morning for coffee at the Copper Rock restaurant.

Keith will be greatly missed by his wife, Sharon; his daughter Kimberly (Ken) LaViolette, New Berlin, WI; his sister, Joyce (Jim) Weaver, Hot Springs Village, AK; niece Wendy (Paul) Engelking and their daughter Jaden, Lake Barrington, IL and nephew Kirk Weaver, Milwaukee, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Bill and Frieda Fradin and niece, Vikki Belt.

The family extends their thanks to the staffs at Oncology & Hematology, ThedaCare at Home and Rennes Rehab Center for their excellent care and concern.

A graveside service will take place at 11 AM at Moses Montefiore Cemetery (E Woodland Ave) Appleton, on Sunday, July 10, 2016 with Rabbi Kenneth Katz officiating. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society (2100 Riverside Dr. Suite 201, Green Bay, WI 54301).

Dear Mrs Fry,
As a student at the University of Iowa, I had the pleasure of knowing Keith. I am moving and was going through a box of memorabilia when I discovered two sketches that Keith did for me. I decided to Google him and was saddened to see that he had passed recently. We often met at the studio union and listened to classical music as we studied. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Bette Frank Rosenberg

Dear Sharon,
I am one of Keith's first cousins. My mother, Arlene Fry Becker, was Homer Fry's sister. She passed away in 2001. Keith's sister, Joyce, recently advised me of Keith's passing. My sincerest condolences for your loss.
