Kenneth Payette Obituary

Payette, Kenneth George

Ken Laughed, Loved, Hunted and Died.

Kenneth George Payette, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Milwaukee to Oscar and Ione (Schmitz) Payette.

He was a longtime resident of Green Bay and graduated from Premontre High School, Class of 1963. Ken married his sweetie, Dee Dee Knack, in 1965 and they just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. They had three children and eight grandchildren. Ken worked in sales all his life; Nabisco, General Foods, and retired from S.C. Johnson & Son.

Ken LOVED; Loved the Lord, loved his family, loved his country, loved the people he met, loved the outdoors, loved "the shack". Ken loved life.

He will be remembered for his "famous" oatmeal, hot chocolate at the shack, taking the scenic route on road trips, driving the wrong way down a one-way street, a bag of popcorn in his hand at his grandchildren's sporting events, clearance aisle shopping, his "punny" jokes, going "shishing", his fun hat, Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars, polka cello jam sessions, a rousing political debate, a Brandy Old Fashioned, jig-a-lows, hot pink painted toe nails (thanks to his granddaughter, Sarah), but most of all - his giving, funny, caring nature. He will be missed by many!

Survivors include his loving wife, Dee Dee (Knack) Payette; two daughters and one son, along with eight grandchildren: Paige Bundgaard (special friend, Jeff Hallett) and children, Savannah Schomin and Sarah Bundgaard, Appleton, WI; Francie (Tom) Laeyendecker and children, Cody, Brett, Leah and Nicole, Combined Locks, WI; son, Matt (Jennifer) Payette and children, Carson and Paytra, Francis Creek, WI; his siblings, Dan (Bonnie) Payette, Diane (Bob) Cavender, David (Kathy) Payette, Julie (Penny) Payette; his in-laws, Dianne (Val) Drzewiecki, and Gig Knack; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Reuben (Marjorie) Knack; brother-in-law, Wayne Knack; and niece, Heidi Cavender.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 16 followed by a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. A few memories of my uncle Ken....always funny and always smiling! He swallowed a mosquito once when we were riding bikes Ha Ha...he took us Drzewiecki kids in as if we were his own when our parents went on their Door County vacations...he taught me how to skip stones on the water and how to search for wild berries on a camping trip...and oh how proud him and my dad were when they built a full size staircase with a hand rail going up into a tree house they had built for us kids out at the old farm house in Suamico...and in his later years how he enjoyed coming out to eat Val's perch at our restaurant in fact just a couple months back we enjoyed eachothers company one last time...we love and miss you Uncle Ken!

Dee Dee I was so sorry to hear about the death of Ken. I was a class mate of Ken's at Premontre. We were not particularly close friends but I remember his warmth and enthusiasm for life. Everyone knew of his love for you. He was fortunate to have had such a loving family.

Dear Dr Francie & family,
So very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I know he had been ill for a while, but still a shock when it happens. He was a sweet man, and I always enjoyed when your folks would come into the office. He and your Mom are great people. My condolences to you and the entire family. I will have fond memories of him.
God bless you all.
