Kaminski, Leonard T.

Leonard T. Kaminski, of Appleton, age 90, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 25, 2014. Len was born in Menasha on August 7, 1923, the son of the late Bernard and Amelia (Sokolowski) Kaminski. On June 22, 1946, he married the late Ione M. (Bushman) Kaminski at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton.

Len is survived by daughter Kay (Bill) Fischer, Appleton, and their children Carrie (Mark) Kuepper and children Sam and Jacob, Bill (Kris) Fischer and children Will, Kennedy, and Caden; son Mark (Karen) Kaminski, Mequon, and their children Sarah (Zachary) Campillo and Kate; son Daniel (Linda) Kaminski, Milwaukee, and their children Sally-Anne, Kyle, and Christopher.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ione, his parents Bernard and Amelia, five sisters and three brothers: Ursula (Clifford) Klutz, Clemens (Collette Voissem) Kaminski, Florian (Marie) Kaminski, Marcella (Harry) Neubauer, Catherine (Joseph) Pawlacyk, Grace (Loyal) Boelter, Urban (Sarah) Kaminski, and Marion (John) Kolakowski Mueller.

Len served in World War II from 1943-46 with the U.S. Army. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 275th Military Police Battalion, serving in the CBI (China-Burma-India) Theater of Operations.

Len was employed by Repap Wisconsin (formerly Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Midtec Paper Co.) for 44 years until his retirement in 1986.

Len was an avid golfer, playing three times a week at Chaska Golf Course until the time of his death. He was most proud of his hole-in-one on July 18, 2001 at Westridge Golf Course.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for St. Joseph Catholic Church has been established in his name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dick & Joan's Supper Club and the EMTs who worked vigilantly to save our dad.

Kay,Mark and Dan, you have my sincere sympathies on the passing of Uncle Lenny. You hear the words hundreds of times but the sorrow takes over and you don't even whom you're talkin to. I still can't grasp the death of my Dad and that's gonna to be 4yrs and I miss him so much.Kay, how can you have kids and so many grandkids and I don't know how that happens when we never get older!?? Again you guys are in my prayers. God Bless

We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Lenny. He was loved by all and very distinguished. Urban my Dad loved him dearly and they will be together playing cards. Blessings to all of my cousins. And much love. JoAnn and Richard Doan (Kaminski). Sarah Kaminski still alive at 89. She was saddened to hear of his passing. She sang at Aunt Ione and Uncle Lenny's wedding.
