Mable Cobb Obituary

Born Mable Leone Forde to Ida E. Forde and her Husband Ole, on April 21, 1915, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She passed away Mable F. Cobb ("Auntie Mable") on September 18, 2011, as a resident of Neenah, Wisconsin after having lived over 96 years. In passing she mused, "To those of you I have met, thank you for sharing time with me and please remember our conversations with a smile and a bit of laughter; for those of you I never had the opportunity to get to know, I am sorry that there was not more time."

Mable enjoyed cooking, theater, her family and friends. Mable especially enjoyed the opportunity to converse with others because she always felt she learned more from listening and hearing a person's story than she ever learned from formal schooling. Mable loved to share her experiences in life, and always enjoyed the opportunity to engage in a lively dialog on almost any subject.

Due to an especially long life, Mable felt sad because she was preceded in death by too many of her friends and family. She especially missed her Mother, Ida Forde, as well as her brother in law, Robert James Hesson, whom she admired and respected greatly and who passed away at a young age.

She is survived by her sister: Pearle F. Hesson (Robert James); her niece and nephews: Jan E. Hesson (Mark Blackbourn), Lynn A. Hesson (Julie) and Jeffrey L. Hesson (Lisa); her grand niece and nephews: Sheena L. Hesson, Connor J. Hesson, Robert J. Hesson, David F. Hesson, Stephen L. Hesson, Ian F. Hesson, Garrick T. Olerud, Collin J. Olerud and Alleck R. Olerud; and a great grand niece: Adriana J. Hesson.

She also wanted to have remembrances to her friends the Syriopoulos family of Milwaukee, who were very dear to her.

Also, to her friends at Island Shores in Neenah, especially to Rose, Renee, Jayne, Leland and John. A special thank you to the staff and volunteers of Cherry Meadows Hospice at Peabody Manor in Appleton who made difficult times in her life more comfortable by their caring.

No Services will be held at Mable's request. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Please direct any memorials to the Cherry Meadows Hospice at Peabody Manor, 2500 Heritage Wood Rd, Appleton, WI 54915, in remembrance of Mable F. Cobb.

There are some people who leave a lasting impression in your life, and I consider Auntie Mable to be one of those people. As I reflect upon our years at Island Shores, I will forever see her smile and hear her laughter. Her relentless pursuit of proper manners, attire and grammar, quick wit, and propensity for conversation will be treasured memories forever. Thank you for sharing Auntie Mable with me.
