I have thought about Mark several times during this Coronavirus epidemic. Just knowing how close God was to him in his life- gave me encouragement in the trials we now suffer. We have all been touched by worry and sometimes despair, especially during the trying times we face today. Mark faced trying times, and God drew him ever closer, until they met face to face. How joyful Mark must be now, sitting next to God, while we all scurry to watch the evening news, hoping to find some modicum of good in this - God and Mark know what it's all about- I wish they could tell us. God Bless all of Mark's family and friends- we will always remember him as a joyful friend!!!!!!!!!!!! Dawn and Troy Anderson.

I'm very sad to hear of Marks passing. I had the privledge of working with Mark at General Beverage for many years and continuing our working relationship with Door County Distillery.

He had a one of a kind personality and was liked by everyone. We had many great conversations about life, work, and family.

I wish his family gods speed and my sincere condolences. Until we meet again my friend.

Many years ago, Mark was serving as the home plate umpire at a Dale Jaycees softball tournament when a batter's errant swing made contact with his skull. Screaming spectators approached me at the concession stand, begging for ice and requesting that we phone for an ambulance. I offered to drive Mark toNew London Hospital's emergency room in my car, and we quickly found a physician. The doctor immediately notified Mark that his blood pressure was dangerously high, and therefore Mark would be obligated to spend the night in the hospital under his observation. But Mark was adamant that he had more pressing obligations and that the doctor posessed no authority to incarcerate him overnight. The doctor insisted that he indeed held such authority. "What are you going to do?" Mark shouted, "Hit me over the head with a baseball bat?!!" We all laughed hysterically as he realized the irony that a blow to the head from a baseball bat was his reason for his being there in the first place, and he wisely conceded the fight.

I met Mark and his wife Annette when my husband and Mark worked together. My husband will always remember the annual fishing trips the guys all took together. They were such fun times. When my husband was ill, Mark called all the time to see how he was. We both were so thrilled he could have his dream of being a pastor. We had just talked about retirement a few weeks before he was diagnosed, and he was so happy. Mark was a true friend. The sweetest and most caring person we both ever knew, and we will both miss him terribly. We are so happy he is now with his creator...we will always love you Mark...you were the best thing to happen to both of us. Annette and family, we can't even express our sadness at your loss of Mark. Such a wonderful husband and father! Our prayers, thoughts and love are with you at this heartbreaking time.

Truly a man who loved his family and especially his Lord. Mark was our guest pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst many times over the years, and his presence was always a special treat. Pastor Mark's presence will be missed...
