Melvin Cotter Obituary
Melvin Robert Cotter, age 86 of Kaukauna, WI departed this life on April 17, 2016. Melvin was born on May 23, 1929 to the late Joseph and Rose Cotter. He lived his entire life in Kaukauna. Mel worked at Thilmanys, Voet's Hardware and Badger Northland. In retirement he was the "water heater guy" for Looks Hardware. One of the things he loved was fixing things-anything. Dad was our Mr. Fixit. On April 24, 1948 he married the love of his life Jeanette St. Louis. Together they shared 67 years and raised two children.
Dad lived at American Grand (Cobblestone) for 3 years. He truly loved his girls, they cared for Dad as if he were their own family. We can't find the words to thank you for everything each and every one of the Cobblestone staff did for Dad.
He is survived by two children: Mary Kay (Steven) Hurkman and Rodney (Sandy) Cotter; grandchildren: Katherine (Robert) Weix, Michelle (Charles) Gaitz and Sara Cotter; great-grandchildren: Braeden and Trevor Weix, Charles Ethen and Morgan Gaitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Lisa Mary Cotter and his brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services for Mel will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at American Grand, 793 Tarragon Way, Kaukauna. Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com
The family would like to thank all those who helped Dad's journey to heaven: Dr. Michael Werner and Staff at Kaukauna Clinic, the entire staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Bill and Mike. We can't thank you enough for the care you gave Dad and his family as well.
