We met Mowry Smith when visiting my dad, George Mueller, who preceeded him to their eternal reward. They were good friends. Their reunion in the Next Life should be joyful. Our condolences to the family.

I knew Mowry through church - he always greeted everyone with a smile. Watching him enjoy the children as they listened to the message was always a special moment. It was a pure pleasure to greet Mowry and share a warm handshake and smile. God's grace be with you all. Marilyn Kostrzak

I was fortunate enough to get to work with Mowry as one of his VNA caregivers. It hasn't set in that I won't be going to see him anymore but he's in a great place. I will miss his "sassy" personality and that amazing smile I was lucky to see during our visits. I will miss sharing the paper and visiting with him. He is the reason I love the work I am in. Rip Mowry.

Mowry was a lifelong advocate for Doty Island. I was fortunate to have worked with Mowry and Frank Stilp to start Doty Island Development Council. I learned a great deal from both of those great men. I will forever cherish my time with Mowry through the many adventures to build the Welcome Sign, mount battles with either Neenah or Menasha city councils to support Doty Island businesses, write his book about Doty Island and much much more. He was a hero and will be sorely missed.

Mowry and I worked together on the board of The Forest History Society for several years. We shared hotel bedrooms, lunches, breakfasts, plane trips, and one very special trip to Ashland, etc. I loved the man and his views of the resources and trends we discussed at length. A fine, fine man--generous and caring. Among many images of him I still carry with me is a treasured one of M. heading up the first hole at North Shore in cutoff jeans and a floppy hat, being himself. My very best to his family.
